"to see you smile," "something more than this", the stink flamingos

oh my god, i had a marvelous time tonight. yes, my friend, you read correctly. marvelous. sarah's friend alex came to spend the night, so we all played her spongebob game. it was really fun because alex and i were making fun of sarah for being a baby. ;) she [alex] is so cute.

at ten til eight i realize what time it is and haul it to kilgore, getting at the place, java jireh, about 8:15 i think. i forgot it was a christian establishment until i see the sign atop the entry, "serving christ and coffee." which i thought was adorable. i go in, and it's just like a house (which bryan told me). i keep walking down the corridor, receiving strange looks from people i don't know, until i get to a huge room in the back and spot bryan. laura was there, and their friend from arizona, steph. she had added this ninja turtle thing to her skirt, and laura was wearing the neatest homemade david bowie shirt. i think i'll have to agree with bryan that she's the cutest girl ever. a girl i spoke to a few times in high school works there, and at one point asked, "so how's it goin', chelsea?"
" meh."
"'meh,' huh?"

anyway, bryan played and was super fantabulous! seriously. his singing's getting really good. he played "stars" (which i had stuck in my head all day), "inside out," "shipwreck," etc. i really love those three. he said he'd like to especially thank the people on the couch (laura, steph, me), his best friends. i threw him the slayer for that one.

this band played after him, the stink flamingos. they were good in that sappy acoustic way. i bought their cd with five songs on it for $4 (all in change) and gave the rest of my change (a little over $3) to bryan-with-a-y. oh god, during his set, he forgot some of one of his songs, and he was like, "jesus christ...just kiddin'." he meant the just kidding to be because he messed up a guitar part, but the audience assumed it was because he used their lord's name in vain. it was so hilarious, the huge cross behind him and everyone around loving god, etc. a few people told him afterward that was really funny. the two guys of the stink flamingos were in model 777, a band i obviously never heard but heard of nonetheless; they were super popular. one, brad, looks so familiar. he's so cute. i think i know where i've seen him. they've got this song, "to see your smile," that's so beautiful to me for some reason. dustin played it for sound check, so i stayed around for their whole show waiting for that song. during the soundcheck, i suddenly thought of that guy again and just...everything and got pretty flustered. i'm glad he quit after just a few moments.

after that was done and talking afterward concluded, we (myself, bryan, laura, steph, and one "jennifer" who is a sophomore and very cute and funny) rented velvet goldmine and went to bryan's. they're all staying there tonight. i left after ewan danced around naked; i'm so exhausted. thusly, i'm off to bed. these quotes are from "something more than this." nana and papaw are coming tomorrow morning and said i couldn't sleep, so i need to hurry and finish my book and get to bed!

"i don't want to pass up my chance to be something more than this."
