the non-hanging gardens of austin

i get to see le tigre tomorrow at emo's. huzzah!

tuesday sarah and i went to the zilker botanical gardens. i didn't realize it was so big, but it was a cool little trek through gardens and woods two miles from downtown. that's one of the things i love most about austin, how no matter where you are there's nature. :dreamy sigh:

i really like these kinds of flowers. more bang for your buck, you know?

aww, look at the lovely plants and OH MY GOD A DINOSAUR! holy crap, as strong bad would have it. (i'm still bitter i didn't get in the video they filmed at the drafthouse. i guess out of four shows i didn't have good odds of picking the right one.)

it's like something out of evil dead. on that note, i'd like to revisit the fact of just how soft bruce campbell's hands are. you should shake them if you get a chance.

it looks like a headless person. or a potato. i dunno, but it really fits in the oriental garden.

it's a secret flower. what you can't see is sarh holding back the leaves.

in its original 1280 resolution, this is lovely wallpaper. excellent framing with the trees, may i add (accidental of course ^_^).

in the oriental garden, if you couldn't have guessed.

i don't know what his is, but i like it.

the best part is my finger in the corner. it really makes it worth reading.

cutest. picture. ever. her eyes are the same color as the bamboo. :) she plays the clarinet, so it's kind of symbolic, too.

she looks oddly fat in the picture. weird.

you'll note the waterfall to the right, and the fact she's hiding litter behind her in the pool. some people are just jerks, and i'm happy even she was upset over it.

and, finally, a really creepy statue.

did you know it's freaking hot around 3 p.m. in july in texas? lordy.

as aforementioned, le tigre takes up our plans tomorrow. we tried going to dave and buster's today, but apparently no minors are allowed in without anyone under 25, even if it's their parents. i got upset cause i was just trying to show sarah a non-boring time and ended up telling the manager that's bullshit. and flipped him off when he apologized as we exited. oops. (hehe)

so instead we printed some pictures at walgreen's and got a free toy from toy joy. i said today's her birthday, but then filled out the card for the wrong date. i'm sure he cares little about the validity of giving away a little girl a stuffed lion, who is named washy washington by the way.

i got an email from john walker, a guy i went to high school with. apparently he frequents austin and would like to "get together sometime and make fun of stupid people or something, yeah." a boy after my own heart, and one of the few people from longview i would like to actually hang out with. he sat behind me in freshman pre-ap english. that's when i first met him. he gave me a live cd for my birthday that year.

i guess that's it. it's late, and even though owen says the keyboard clicking doesn't bother him, i'm sure it does. i'll close with this picture of cole, because it is the coolest ever!!
