well i got a rental, but i had to curse and cry. i got into it with john about how they don't have the inventory on a car that everyone but them seems to know needs alternator replacements, and he told me about this one woman whose had to have 5 new alternators in the past two months. that seems like to me a pretty good reason to keep some in stock. he mentioned that he express shipped my harness, something that cost $50, and he wasn't even charging me for it. i was like, "well thank you for doing your job. don't make yourself out to be a saint. fixing my car is your job."

he said when you were offered a rental, it was different management who has since been replaced. he said the new people don't want to pay for rentals so they're very strict, and i asked why they changed if the new people don't give a damn about their customers. i said something about their "fucking inventory." i didn't mean it to come out; it just did, you know? i didn't even spit it out or anything. i was talking really fast and it just happened. i could tell that pissed him off, and he said said i didn't have to use that kind of language when he's trying to be nice and help me. to quote mom, what kind of help are they offering?

so i had him give me to the service manager, the same guy i talked to last time i was upset. he explained the whole thing about the harness to me again, but by this point i was crying. i told him my only problem is i can't magically poof in and out of my office at work. he said something about ordering parts, and i told him, "any competant business keeps track of their inventory and orders when they're low, not when they're out. god, i even do that here."

apparently he's the one who does that, so i insulted him personally. he got really pissed, saying how he knows i was cursing at john about their "fucking inventory." he tried to tell me i don't know how it works. i replied, "yes, i do. when you're low, you re-order." he said, "oh, so you know now?" "yes, it's not complicated. you obviously don't know how to do your job."

so finally he was just boiling i could tell, and he said, "well you know what, we will get you a rental car for *one day* and you can pick yours up tomorrow."
"and i need someone to get me out there to get it."
"oh, so now you want us to pick you up, too?"
"yeah. eric got me yesterday, and he got me last time. it needs to happen again."
"and i would like it if you never brought your car here again."
"i don't want to. i don't want to ever see you people again. i almost paid to have *this* done myself."

then john got my number for enterprise to call, and since their whole thing is "we'll pick you up!" hopefully they'll just bring it to me. i was telling mom about how they said not to bring it back, and she got pissed. she was like, "your car is under warranty. they'll fix whatever you tell them to." she said she figured i just hadn't spent enough money on cars to realize how important it is to get something free, but she didn't know about this. i told her, "see, i knew what i was talking about!"

apparently last time doug tried to complain (cause it's in their name, you know, and technically they're the ones who send them the payments), but he was told each kia is independently owned and they couldn't really do anything about it. she said she'd try to talk to someone since this was warranty work not just them being a jerk.

poor doug. he's been working 13-hour days since sunday, and he just found out monty (his brother-in-law, patty's husband & toby's dad) just went out and bought a new $30,000 truck. over the past year grandma dorothy (doug and patty's mom) has sent them at least $12,000 for insurance and a few months' rent. patty can't work anymore since she's sick, you know, and monty's just working in a lube place. if they can't pay rent or insurance, how the hell are they supposed to make $650/month payments?

doug fucking exploded at patty and grandma, and he told grandma if he finds out she sends them any more money he's going to stir up shit they don't even want to think about. if he's got $650 a month to throw away on a truck, they don't need grandma's money. that's the only reason she doesn't retire, so she can give patty money. he's stayed out of it until now, but he said he is officially in it. monty never tries to get them more money. he was offered a good job making a lot more, but since it was 30 minutes to and from work he didn't take it. obviously, if he's going to make those payments, he's got money they don't know about. they think he might have gotten money from his parents.

so doug told patty when he sees him again, if he does, he's going to kick his ass. he said, "if he was in front of me right now, i'd be kicking his ass." doug said if monty has the balls he can call him back and explain how he plans to pay for it, but of course he didn't. i'd imagine patty probably didn't tell him anyway.

so because of all that, mom said she'd try to handle the kia thing herself at first. doug's going to seattle tomorrow, though, so at least he gets to leave. it's one thing to just be on vacation, but physically getting away from it all is better, you know?

bah. my head is killing me. x_X anthony said hearing me all upset was pissing me off, and he almost just took the phone and started yelling at them. haha. i just hate that i totally lose control when i get that mad because it can be interpreted as me being upset and weak, you know? but it's not. it's just i'm pissed off and you better run for cover. by the end i got it together and yelled some. that's how fucking mad i was/am: i went full circle.
