aquanetta get over here!

saturday morning (the 2nd) owen and i awoke bright and early. we filled up my car ($31!), stopped at the bank, ate french toast at kerbey lane, and ventured forth at a quarter til 10 on our way to arlington. we were supposed to meet my parents, sister, her friend kendall, and my cousin toby at six flags around 1:00 p.m., but of course they were late. as always. we were going toward dallas when i-30 became one lane, a truly horrific experience. thusly, we exited onto NW 19th st. and sat in denny's for an hour.

our waiter kept walking by and looking at us. i ate the slowest i've ever eaten, i think. i mentioned an april fools story i read about an earthquake in a ghetto part of new zealand, which is when the title statement came from owen. i couldn't stop laughing and vowed my next pet would be named aquanetta.

when they finally arrived in arlington we met them at the hotel.

exciting elevator shot there in amerisuites. we got our own room, and toby slept on our pull-out couch. a "sleeper sofa" if you will. sarah and kendall stayed with mom and doug thankfully.

the party sans owen and myself wanted to eat, so we went to the cracker barrell cause it was close. owen pointed out it's odd for people in the south to want to eat at a southern restaurant, but it's pretty good apparently. i just got a scoop of ice cream and took pictures of everyone.

the family, deep in thought.

anyhoo. six flags was like half a mile away from there on the frontage road. i offered to just walk there, but mom said that was dumb. parking was $9, though, man. that's a lot.

picture-in-motion. notice doug's kicking toby. that was taken right as we were leaving on sunday, but it also corresponds with arriving, no?

doug's a really big nerd, and as such his hero is bugs bunny. we were happy we got a cool bugs who would pose with him.

i'm a really big nerd, too, and as such when i saw sylvester i thought of my own kitties.

sarah's friend kendall is pretty cool. she loves all the rollercoasters, including superman, which i refused to ride.

from atop the tower.

as well from the tower. this is actually two pictures i edited in paint. i am the paint queen. i had to create a horizon in the upper right corner cause a part of the chain link fence got in the way. the superman one was edited in paint, too. it was a little crooked.

they've got a "4-d" spongebob adventure, where the seats move and everything. it was really fun. while we were waiting to enter, we were entertaining ourselves with the glasses.

kendall had eyes in the back of her head.

i was a gangster.

and toby and doug were very 80s chic. the other picture i have of him and doug, doug's sticking his tongue out. it was cute.

what's that, a ufo? noop, just the texas tornado, those swings that are at every carnival ever. i have a progression of shots showing it getting higher and more ufo-like.

after six flags on sunday, we went to dave and busters. my camera died after taking some pictures of downtown, though, which is totally lame. i should have charged it in the hotel saturday night, but i'm a retard like that. thusly, you must live with the fact that dave and busters was dimly lit but charged with racing arcade colors, and their jack daniels bbq burger was very good. i amassed 1414 tickets (hitting the jackpot on this one game four times i think), but saved them so i can get something really huge at the one here.

on a completely unrelated note, today owen and i went thrifting like good little indie kids should. at the assistance league of austin (hancock and burnet), i found four really awesome books, three of which all belonged to the same man from taylor. teddy j. stahl. i also got a really nice compact through the looking glass from 1935. i got crime and punishment for 50 cents since i've always wanted to read it, but the prize of the trip was the keyboard on which i now type. it's an old dell, not a quietkey, but like those, where the keys are so loud you hear them in the other room. the best three dollars i ever spent in my life!

we also went to this shopping center that had dragon's lair comics, a store i've wanted to visit for like three years. it was pretty nice, and there were three kitties lounging about the back. there's a book store called curio cabinet books, or something like that. it was filled will lots of really great old and new books and smelled like the white haven library according to owen. there's a catholic thrift store, too, but nothing overly interesting was in it. the furniture they had was priced normally, even. we stopped by this other store, asahi imports i think, cause i wanted to look at their stuff. i bought two hello kitty chocolate marshmellows (giant marshmellows with squirts of chocolate inside), and something called "choco baby."

the ones with the yellow stars on the ends are really cute. i wasn't sure what they were, but they were only $1.25. they're pretty much like chocolate chips, though.

and now, as the grand finalle of today's excitement, i'm writing in my journal and owen's doing laundry. huzzah! time to lounge.
