this afternoon when i stepped out of my room to leave for work, of course janeane was lounging at the foot of the stairs, tima directly in front of my door. as always, he stayed put, and tima ran down the stairs in front of me. as i stood on the bottom step, looking at tima waiting eagerly near the dining table to see if i'd go into the kitchen, i smiled at her. and at that moment i felt really good. that one smile made the difference between me being bitchy and upset because my head's killing me, and the sort of calm, talkative thing i've got going now.

i stopped at taco bell to get food, but for some reason got a kid's meal. it's moderately expensive [on my budget, $3+], but much to my surprise the toy was four punch-out paper dinosaurs to assemble: t-rex, triceratops, stegosaurus, and brachiosaurus. as i assembled my t-rex, i wondered how those arms could actually do anything and started searching for why they were there. there's speculation they could have been scavengers. read these. the second is from a creationist, so it's sort of odd. the first paragraph of "what evidence is there that t-rex is a scavenger?" is okay, though. this one's really good, too.

anyway, i found this charmingly crappy site in my search, so of course now i'm going through them all. i'm excited about making something papier-mch because i never have before. i feel i've missed out on something.

i've filled out a couple state of texas applications for jobs at the bob bullock texas state history museum. one job's working at IMAX, the other a "visitor service representative," which encompasses lots of things from cashiering to customer service. they had an opening for their parking garage, but i wouldn't like adjusting to their different system. i'm hoping i can get a 30- or 40-hour position here still, though.
