an injury for the ages

this morning i threw my back out.

for the past week or two, my lower back has been giving me problems. usually after a violent rub down it'd be better. i figured it wasn't healthy to have such pain for such a long time, but i hate wasting $25 on my doctor.

last night i made a list of antique shops to visit today. my mom (and i for that matter) love going to them, so i wanted to have more than one to take her to. we always go to the austin antique mall, which totally owns. it's over 30k square feet. you should go yourself; it's on mccann.

i sat up at 11:30 this morning in bed and paused because i felt a pain in the usual place. then i coughed, and my whole body froze. i yelled and immediately started sobbing. it was really strange because i couldn't help the sobbing and moaning. i lay back sideways across the bed, gripping the footboard for dear life. owen started rubbing it really hard, but it didn't help. in fact, it started hurting more. after several attempts i managed to swing around and be in bed the right way while owen hunted something hot.

i fell asleep again with a heating pad on and didn't wake up until 5:30 or 6:00 this afternoon. it still hurts, but not quite as bad. in the past five minutes of sitting here typing, though, it's gotten a lot worse. so i'm going back to bed. mom said i need to go to the doctor and get muscle relaxers, that it'll be a few days before it quits. she pulled the same muscle in her back not too long ago, so she knows what she's talking about. not to mention she is dr. mom.
