(here are some non-fascinating pictures i took for work, and here are some non-fascinating pictures i took over the past few days.)
circuit city had a great deal on a camera, and, as i often do, i shoved it in owen's face and jokingly told him to buy it. well, this time he did, as long as i give him $200 for it. we got it online, but their site kept crashing. without having a confirmation for in-store pick-up, and refusing to wait for delivery should they let someone else buy it, owen, sarah, and i woke up at 4:00 a.m. saturday to doorbust at circuit city. we got there when they opened at 5:00, and there were at least two hundred people wrapped around the building. did i mention it was 32 degrees outside?
it took us a little over an hour just to get inside the door, and another 20-30 to get the camera.
6:06, so close to being inside.
i got a new girl who didn't look a day over 16, obviously seasonal help, who said she couldn't look me up without the confirmation number. "look," i said, "i didn't receive an email because the site crashed, but there's already a $1000 charge to this credit card. i'm not leaving without this camera." panic-stricken, newgirl looks around for help and finally finds the veteran. 10 seconds later he finds owen's name and gives her the receipt number. after some scrambling for the telephoto lens (a $229.99 value), we skip merrily out. actually, we drag our asses out because we're delirious and starving.
THUS! i am the proud new owner of a Canon Digital Rebel EOS XTi 10.10 MP SLR camera with a maximum picture resolution of 3888 x 2592. that's right, i used proper capitalization for that shit.
here are a few pictures from my engadget-esque unboxing.
keep your dust away from my shit. it has an automatic cleaning system in it, but i know that's no good for the heavy stuff.
normal 18-55mm lens.
75-300mm telephoto power. with this attached, the whole camera weights almost 5 pounds.
and finally, by baby sister's eyeball, in 2312 x 1352 resolution. commence tears of joy.
