sunday SUNDAY sunday...

last night i watched king kong and cried profusely multiple times. man, i'm glad i didn't see that in theatres after all. it was just so utterly depressing.

last week we had the apartments put in a new air filter in our a/c. that afternoon when we got home, we noticed this horrible smell of death in the whole apartment. it was kinda like syrup, except completely nauseating. owen suggested it may be the new filter, like when you use the heater for the first time in a year it smells like burnt hair. then a couple days later i noticed something in the hallway floor.

these are two cotton balls off of a scarf i made last year. sarah and i found them in michael's the last time she stayed with us, and we made them ourselves. i sniffed the burnt parts, and it smelled just like the deathly odor in our apartment. i turned to see the rest of the scarf handing from the sconce, about half of the remaining cotton balls singed and stinky. lame. i couldn't see since i'm so midgety, but owen said the light bulb is all black. great, thanks for setting my apartment on fire and not even mentioning it.

owen and i were cleaning today (yes, i was cleaning, suspend your disbelief, to quote owen), and owen discovered one of our bookcases has been severely damaged by the flooding in our bedroom. it's soaked through the bottom plank and damaged a ton of books. thankfully they were books i either stole or didn't like anyway (which is why they were on the bottom shelf), but there was also a binder containing a lot of my writing from high school, and a few things from elementary school. this really got to me, obviously.

you may notice the rough look of the shelf. well, that's because when i assembled it, i put it on upside down. ^_^ it's actually pretty great, though, because it wouldn't have been as noticeable through the finished side.

lovely. either using the cover price or, if not listed, using prices found online, here's the total damages:

now THAT'S what i'm talking about. the magazines i had were very old, from like 1999-2001. one is the classic issue of rolling stone with the article about columbine written by marilyn (may 28, 1999). that's a link to the sotry, by the way. i couldn't find a price for back issues of the other magazines, so i based it on the price of rolling stone's: $12 each x 11 magazines. i also think $50 for pain and suffering of having to trash work that's deeply important to me is very reasonable.

rainier management, both my endodontist and i thank you greatly for not fixing our shitty apartment. :D
