"beer song," "sadie may," "yesterday," mustard plug

iieee! ok, so the show was like the best experience of my life. i went to layla's right before, so i had to just sort of stand around, waiting to shake off that stoned feeling. we got there when dempsy was playing, and they were pretty good. it was the third time frank had seen them. he had told me they were good, and i'm here to tell you that they are indeed. i got a free promo cd. yay free stuff.

cruiserweight played, whom i've never seen, but they were pretty good. there were a few of their songs i really liked. frank got one of their cds, so i'll just steal that from him.

allister played next, and they actually played a song i know and am rather fond of, "jacob thinks i'm gay." it's on the drive-thru compilation i've got. i only know that, "friday night," (also on the comp) and their cover of "i want it that way."

for the latter two bands we were upstairs, watching from behind since it gets hot with all those people in such a confined place. no, no, mustard plug, we shall be at their heels. so i was, right at the feet (and eye-level with the crotch) of colin, on the side of the stage. there were a little boy and girl next to me who were no more than 10 or 11. that little boy was rocking, too. colin posed for a picture for him in the middle of a song; that was cute.

i've only seen these guys in their videos, so i had a fuzzy knowing of what they looked like. as they began to assemble, i recognized dave and matt, and then a holy creature placed upon 6th street's flamingo cantina directly from the heavens, escorted by the hand of the goddess herself, walked out carrying a dented trumpet. half the show included me fawning over brandon, whose hair is longer and curlier now. oi, the beauty. and he plays the trumpet. :falls over:

we're getting married, and you're all invited. we're having lots of little ska/band nerd babies. :dreamy sigh: go band! clarinets represent! my mood, gelatinous? that's how i felt. i was weak and wobbly like jello. seriously..gah..i..just..ohhh...

the vocals were really fucking terrible; you could hardly even hear them. in any case, you could hear the lovely brandon singing in his solos. i'm trying to remember the songs they played.

not enough
throw a bomb
you (yay)
yesterday (yay)
mr. smiley

we're gunna take over the world

everything girl
mendoza
never be
go

but of course all of them are followed with yay. there were two songs i didn't know. hrm. i was going to get the set list, but i didn't want to crawl up on the stage in front of all those people, and frank wouldn't do it. so dave gave it to some guy who had been on stage dancing all night. i suppose he deserves it more. all's fair. i got the lid to the bottle of water the allister guy was spraying on himself. hehe. that's dorky, but you know i'm going to keep it. i bought two of mustard plug's buttons and a shirt with a kid-drawing-type old person that says, "old people like beer." for some reason i can't access the properties to get to the link for it. go here and look at the last shirt on the third full row, entitled old people. that's it.

i need to get into bed. i've got to be at work in three hours. holy sleep deprivation, batman! hehe, today's word of the day is piebald. like the band, you know? (i'm spreading the gospel.)

so, don't forget, wedding. i'll soon be mrs. chelsea jaye jenison. that sounds nice. ^_^

"lolita [brandon], i wanna meet ya, i wanna take you in my arms and squeeze ya. cause you amaze me. you really slay me."
<3, pyx.
