"goodbye yellow brick road," "someone saved my life tonight," elton john

i love elton john. i really do. i can't believe i got to see him in concert. it was really nice, just him and his piano. he couldn't sing this song or any other song with prolonged high notes, though. poor elton. ;( i'm baffled as to how anyone could have been shocked when he told everyone he's gay. :)

last night i went to layla's to drop off my big fat greek wedding, and right as i was getting to oltorf and wickersham, i saw a fire truck. i always panic when i see emergency vehicles cause i'm so afraid i'm going to be in their way. there's an suv in the left lane, and i'm in the right lane (just a two-lane road at that point). so what's the fire truck decide he wants to do as the suv and i are passing each other? turn onto wickersham! it started turning, and i was like, "oh fuck!" and had to swerve to the curb really fast. i swear it came like a foot from my car. can you imagine an suv, a fire truck, and a buick piled up in a two-lane road? yeesh.

speaking of hellish driving experiences, allow me to tell you of yesterday right after that incident. i went to this place on oltorf to see about getting herbs for this salve that's supposed to help rashes and poison ivy (for frank). they didn't have the actual plants, just the vitamins, so i call a place on n. lamar at 5:15 p.m. from that parking lot. they close at 5:30. ha! like i'm getting to lamar and koenig in ten minutes. i thought, maybe i can trek through i-35 all the way to 183, then down 183 to anderson lane. it takes me 15 minutes to get from oltorf to mlk via downtown (which was lots of fun at 5:15! seriously :), and when i saw the ramp for i-35 not moving and the cars on i-35 not moving, i was just like fuck it, he can itch. :)

i tried to be all clever (or at least different) and go through the east side of town to get home. i get on airport blvd., but i've never driven the south end so i end up on 183. oi. i take the ben white exit to get back home, and i see e. riverside at a light! yay! so i cut some people off and nearly get killed to get into the turn lane, turn, and end up at a little road that connects with 183. what the crap! the cars behind me at the light were no longer there, so i obviously missed something because riverside is not 183. or whatever the hell that road was. bah. i finally see burleson, which i know goes to oltorf, so i have to drive down that for like 10 minutes til i get there, then, you know, i'm like a block from home. but it was so terrible. ugh. an hour and a half of stress, and she comes home empty-handed...

yesterday i was late getting to school. i had had these terrible dreams about all these wrecks around me, and then on my way i saw three within a quarter of a mile, two on my side of i-35. = maybe it's a good thing i was late.

the storm last night and today was so fucking rad. i went outside last night to go to whataburger (yes, even though i'm broke and the last time i ate there i threw up a couple times), and as soon as i stepped outside it thundered. this was no wimpy little crash; this was a motherfucking

boom

that *hurt* my ear drums. the sky was lit up bright bright blue, and about five seconds later the same happened. it was so beautiful. the sky just fell then, huge rain drops. today the city was flooded, man, i got soaked from the knees down. x_X there was lots of good thunder earlier as well. i can't even remember the last time i experienced a thunderstorm. :)

blockley's test actually wasn't that hard. i could feesibly pass. :-o but i won't go jinxing it. bleh.

the piano in "someone..." is so pretty; i love that low range. at the concert it was awesome. such a geek... :D what's up with all these damned emoticons?

"i am so afraid of living in oblivion."
